SUNNYVALE, Santa Clara County — Sunnyvale marked the grand reopening of the Community Center grounds on May 21, 2026, following a major renovation described by the city as a $14 million transformation.
The project updated roughly two acres at the Community Center at 550 East Remington Drive. Features described by the city include play and picnic areas, a game space with ping pong and cornhole, amphitheater-style seating, redesigned water features, upgraded walking paths, new restrooms and public Wi-Fi.
Why the renovation was needed
The city says the grounds, part of a community center dating to the 1970s, needed modernization to improve access, recreation and long-term maintenance. Improvements include more efficient lighting, water-saving irrigation and recycled-plastic furniture.
Plan a visit
The restored grounds serve residents attending events and public programs as well as people looking for open recreation space. Before organizing a group activity or special event, check Sunnyvale’s latest facility rules, reservations and any temporary closure notices.
